About The Academy

Explore the problems and challenges faced by law enforcement and learn how your police department meets those challenges. You will get a better understanding of the process from the moment a crime is reported through its investigation. Observe and participate in demonstrations using some of the latest technology available to your local Crime Scene Investigations Unit, Bomb Disposal Unit, Response Team, and Crisis Negotiators! You’ll also discover programs that have allowed the police department to partner with businesses, schools and citizens to prevent crime!

Classes will be held one evening weekly from 6-9 pm at the Law Enforcement Center. Two additional Saturday sessions, with attendance being optional, will include a tour of the Department of Corrections, and a fun day, where participants will experience use of force (shoot/don’t shoot) scenarios, and demonstrations from the K-9 and Training Units. Upon completion of the course, you will graduate with a certificate of attendance.
