Citizen’s Academy

About The Academy

Explore the problems and challenges faced by law enforcement and learn how your police department meets those challenges. You will get a better understanding of the process from the moment a crime is reported through its investigation. Observe and participate in demonstrations using some of the latest technology available to your local Crime Scene Investigations Unit, Bomb Disposal Unit, Response Team and Hostage Negotiators! You’ll also discover programs that have allowed the police department to partner with businesses, schools and citizens to prevent crime!

Sessions are held Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. beginning March 7, 2019 through May 30, 2019. Participants must be 18 years old or older. Two optional sessions are offered for participants including a tour of the Department of Corrections and a FUN DAY! This day is designed to allow participants to experience some of the finer points within Law Enforcement. This may include a K-9 demonstration, shoot/don’t shoot scenarios and more!
