Observe and participate in demonstrations using some of the latest technology available to your local Crime Scene Investigations Unit, Bomb Disposal Unit, Response Team, Crisis Negotiators and participate in a Ride Along with an Officer! Discover programs that have allowed the police department to partner with youth, businesses, schools and citizens to prevent crime!
Classes have maximum seating of 35 participants.

Application Disqualifications
An applicant may be disqualified from participating in the Topeka Police Department Citizen’s Academy for any of the following reasons, including but not limited to
- Convicted and/or court diversion of a person felony within the last 10 years
- Convicted and/or court diversion of a nonperson felony within the last 5 years
- Convicted and/or court diversion of a domestic violence offense within the last 5 years
- Currently charged with a felony offense in a court of law
- Outstanding Warrant(s) for any type
- Listed as a defendant in a current protection order
- Applicant is a known member or associated with any organization, group, person(s), movement or association which advocates hatred, violence, prejudice, or oppression of any person or group or which disseminates such material
- Applicant has a pending or active lawsuit against the Department
- Any other indications of criminal history, criminal involvement and/or previous law enforcement involvement will be evaluated on a case by case basis and considered in the application process.
