Fire Open Records

The public has the right under the Kansas Open Records Act (KORA) to access public information maintained by local governments.

Requests regarding restricted information such as fire investigations, may require other documentation such as an Arson Immunity Act letter or court subpoena. Information regarding emergency medical responses are subject to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) restrictions and may require additional documentation before release.

Fees

Fees are for each address requested and should be submitted along with the request form. Payment is accepted in the form of cash, credit or check. Postage fees may apply if records are mailed.

Patient Report: $5

Medical Call Report: $5
Please be advised that medical calls and/or patient reports will not be provided without written authorization from the person involved or by subpoena.

Fire Investigation Report: $10 minimum | $10 for photos, if available
If determination is accidental or undetermined, the report may be available under the Kansas Open Records Act. If ruled incendiary, it is only available to insurance companies pursuant to the Kansas Arson Reporting Immunity Act.
Fees may vary depending on length of report and other supporting documents.
