2024 Topeka Way To Work Program Overview

The City of Topeka, Fellowship Hi-Crest, and K-State Research & Extension 4-H are partnering with area businesses and non-profit organizations to employ several summer positions for Shawnee County area youth. The 6-week work program will also include professional development sessions.

  • Work hours: Monday-Thursday, 9AM-Noon, and every other Friday for professional development
  • Pay: $7.25/hour

Eligibility

  • Youth 14-16 years of age
  • Resident of Shawnee County

Work Program Dates

June 10, 2024 through July 19, 2024

Youth will work at host businesses or a non-profit organization Monday through Thursday, and every other Friday. Professional Development on June 10, 14, 28, July 12 & 19. Professional topics include:

  • Communication
  • Leadership Development
  • Social Media
  • Situational Awareness

Program Information Session

  • Sunday, April 7, 2024: 2PM-4PM, Fellowship Hi-Crest, 455 SE Golf Park Blvd. Youth must attend this information session with a legal guardian in order to apply. This session will provide information that includes: application process and completion, how to dress for an interview, resume development, and interview skills. Those in attendance will receive an application to complete if interested in this summer work program.
  • April 14 & 21, 2024: Interviews will be held from 2P-4P at Fellowship Hi-Crest for those that attended on April 7, 2024.
  • April 22-26, 2024: Applicants will be notified if they are accepted into the program.
