This is a meeting notice for the Topeka Development Corporation Board of Directors.

The Topeka Development Corporation Board of Directors will hold a VIRTUAL organizational meeting on October 19, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. to approve bylaws and necessary corporate resolutions. These steps will allow the corporation to take ownership of Hotel Topeka at City Centre, on October 31, 2023. This meeting is open to the public.

Public comment for the meeting will be available via Zoom. Individuals must contact the City Clerk’s Office at 785-368-3940 or via email at cclerk@topeka.org by no later than 2:00 p.m. on October 19, 2023, after which the City Clerk’s Office will provide Zoom link information and protocols prior to the meeting.

Other Information: During the October 17, 2023 Topeka City Council Meeting, the Governing Body will consider approving a resolution to create a not-for-profit entity known as the Topeka Development Corporation. The purpose of the corporation is to hold title to Hotel Topeka, and enables the entity to contract with a management company who will oversee day-to-day hotel operations. It also allows the corporation to obtain necessary licenses and property insurance. Forming the corporation is part of the next steps to ensure the redevelopment of the Hotel. If approved on Tuesday, October 17 the documents for the corporation will be filed with the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office for official formation. Upon formation, the corporation will include a 10-person Board of Directors, consisting of the current Governing Body members.
