NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The City of Topeka, Kansas (the “City”) will hold a public hearing in the ECR Room on the third floor of City Hall, 215 SE 7th St., Topeka, KS, on July 25, 2018, commencing at 10:00 A.M., regarding the proposed issuance by the City of its General Obligation Bonds, Series 2018B (Zoo Projects), proceeds of which not to exceed $7,000,000 will be used for the following purposes: (1) finance a portion of the costs of construction, acquisition, renovation, equipping and furnishing of the costs of capital infrastructure and improvements, including for Kay’s Garden and the Event Center, at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center (the “Topeka Zoo”) located on its campus at or about 635 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS; and (2) refund a portion of the City’s General Obligation Temporary Notes, Series 2017-A that, in part, financed various capital infrastructure at the Topeka Zoo. The Topeka Zoo is currently owned, operated and managed by the City, but the City anticipates operation and management of the Zoo, or part thereof, may be transferred in the future to Friends of the Topeka Zoo Inc., a Kansas not-for-profit corporation.
The hearing will be open to the public. All interested persons may attend the hearing and will have an opportunity to express their views with respect to the issuance of bonds to finance and refinance a portion of the project costs listed above. Written comments with respect to the bonds may be sent to the undersigned prior to the hearing.
