Citizen’s Government Review Committee

Purpose

The City of Topeka Governing Body approved Resolution No. 9600, convening the Committee and appointing five (5) individuals and one (1) alternate member to serve on the Committee with full participation in meetings in the event one of the five voting members is unable to complete the term of service. The Committee shall meet between January and June of 2025 and shall submit its recommendations to the Governing Body within six months of appointment. As required by TMC 2.210.050, the report format shall include, but not be limited to areas of concern, general findings relative to those concerns, and recommendations for alleviating concerns or problems. The Committee may, at its pleasure, recruit the assistance of other citizens, scholars in the field, or professional municipal managers for participation on an ad hoc basis. The Committee shall provide the opportunity for public input at least once during the process prior to the final report being completed.

Membership

Required Qualifications

  • Be a registered voter who lives within the City of Topeka
  • Be available between January and June of 2025 for a substantial time commitment to meet and complete the required report for the Governing Body

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of the City of Topeka’s current form of government
  • Demonstrated ability to be impartial and objective
  • Possess sound communication and listening skills
  • Lead and function well in a group
