  1. Any footage containing or related to criminal activity may be collected by the City of Topeka Police Department for use as evidence during any stage of a criminal Investigation.
  2. All information provided to the City of Topeka Police Department pursuant to the “See Topeka” program is reserved for official law enforcement use by the City of Topeka Police Department and will not be released to any member of the general public or press except:
    • A. as required by law or court order; or
    • B. at the City of Topeka Police Department’s discretion, for the purpose of furthering the investigation , information may be shared:
      • i. with other law enforcement agencies; or
      • ii. solely for the purpose of assisting with the identification and/or apprehension of a criminal suspect, with the media and/or the community, through the use of still photographs for the purpose of creating community advisories, fliers, billboards, the like.
  3. When necessary for a criminal investigation, the City of Topeka Police Department will contact you directly, using the information provided on this site, to request the appropriate video surveillance footage.
  4. Registrants in the See Topeka program is strictly voluntary. Registrants are not representatives, agents, and/or employees of the City of Topeka, the City of Topeka Police Department, and/or the See Topeka program.
  5. Under no circumstances shall registrants construe themselves to be acting as a representative, agent, and/or employee of the City of Topeka, the City of Topeka Police Department, and/or the See Topeka program or hold themselves out to the public as such.
  6. Under no circumstances shall the City of Topeka Police Department utilize any information obtained pursuant to the See Topeka program to view footage/feeds directly from cameras owned by registrants.
  7. Registration in the See Topeka program does not confer any greater rights to registrants than to any other member of the public , with respect to the City of Topeka Police Department’s response to any criminal complaint or criminal activity.
  8. Registrants should in no way consider or regard their participation in the See Topeka program as a monitoring or security device.
  9. Registrants in the See Topeka program agree to hold the City of Topeka, the City of Topeka Police Department, the See Topeka program, and/or their authorized agents, employees, and assigns harmless from any and all claims for negligence, and/or liability for bodily injury, death, property damage, arising out of or in any nature associated with the registrant’s participation in the See Topeka program.
  10. Checking the designated box on the registration form indicates understanding of acceptance of the above terms and conditions of participation in the See Topeka program.
