The Department of Neighborhood Relations facilitates multiple programs and services that maintain and enhance the City of Topeka’s quality of life to ensure economic and social benefits. The Department of Neighborhood Relations is organized into three divisions:
The division of Community Engagement staff work to engage local government and residents, help empower residents through education and neighborhood leadership development and hopes to encourage all Topeka neighborhoods to take an active part of their community.
The Housing Services division administers a variety of local and federal funding programs that assist in sustaining and revitalizing Topeka neighborhoods through creating housing opportunities and meeting community development needs.
The purpose of the Property Maintenance division is to protect the public’s health, safety and welfare by trying to make properties safer through protection against criminal elements and personal safety, public health and even sanitation procedures which affect everyone.
