Thank you for your interest in conducting business in the Capitol of Kansas. The City Clerk’s office will be happy to assist you in the application process as requirements for licenses vary.

 

Business Licenses

The City of Topeka does not have or issue a general business license; however, there are certain activities that are regulated and require a license and/or submission of an occupation tax mandated by the Topeka Municipal Code.

Submit applications in person, via U.S. mail, email or fax to the following address anytime on Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The City of Topeka Development Services Division issues contractor licenses. Please contact the Development Services Division at 785-368-3704 for more information.

The Topeka Police Department issues Private Security Guard and Alarm Business Licenses. Please contact Andrew Schafer at aschafer@topeka.org or call 785-368-9456 for more information.
