The US Census 2010. It’s in your hands
The citizens of the City of Topeka along with every other person across the nation will be asked to fill out a 2010 Census form this March. Article one of the U.S. Constitution calls for a count of the nation’s citizens every ten years and you can be a voice for your community by filling out and returning your Census form. It’s easy! If you receive mail by United States Postal Service, your forms should arrive mid-March. For all other areas Census takes will deliver forms from March 1 – April 30, 2010. The form contains 10 questions and should only take a few minutes to fill out. Then just send the form back in the postage-paid envelope. If the Census does not receive your form then a Census taker must follow-up in person to obtain the answers to the Census.
The Census 2010 has been made easier due the on-going circulation of the American Community Survey (ACS). The ACS is an on-going survey that is sent to a sampling of the population. It can tell us more about our population and can help communities locate services and allocate resources.
By returning your 2010 census form you could help Topeka gain more resources for schools, infrastructure and emergency services to name a few programs. The census is so important that the information gathered can affect the number of seats your state holds in the U.S. House of Representatives.
