Private Security Guards
The Topeka Police Department also licenses companies which operate as a private security guard business within the city limits of Topeka. Each individual who is a private security guard working for these companies is also required to license through the police department by city ordinance. Those individuals who carry firearms must also pass a qualification through the police department before being licensed to carry the weapon.

The City of Topeka and the Police Department does not endorse or imply in any way their approval of any business’ policies, practices or methods of doing business. It only means that they have met the licensing requirements and background checks needed to obtain a city license and operate a private security guard business within the City of Topeka.
