Officer Hoffman wrote a poem in memory of the canine that was killed in the line of duty:

Remembering Sevo

Is that a bark in the wind
As you patrol another plane
Your wounds are healed and you are able to run again
Free from any discomfort
You were a dog to share
Your loyalty with more than one handler
A heart so open for caring
A personality so endearing
Please be a guide to us below
When we with our K-9 partners are following
dangerous trails
Gently nudge us of impending danger
As you traverse the heavens in spirit
Keep an ear turned and an eye open
Since your handlers are still earthbound
Watch over them and keep them safe
And someday they will join you
And once again you will become a crime fighting
Team in Heaven
In Honor of His Service
In Memory of Sevo
Sleep Soft Friend
