A woman came to us who regularly trades/buys on Ebay - last month, she started receiving emails concerning certain "transactions" she'd apparently been involved in, some of these emails were threatening. She had no idea what these people were talking about, as she'd not dealt in items such as 4-wheelers, a Toyota 4-Runner, etc.
Apparently, these people had used her email address and Ebay screenname to carry out transactions, and these people were to send the money to a bank account in the Netherlands, even though her address showed in Kansas. For the price these people paid for these items, they were supposed to get overseas shipping (included).
One of these people, very irate, even showed up from a military base here in Kansas at her doorstep threatening violence against her and her family if they didn't produce the item. Ebay is still trying to stay out of the situation, claiming no responsibility to the transactions, but in the end, an estimated $20,000 has possibly been lost due to these fake business deals, but somebody got rich!!
