Topeka Fire Department | Fire Prevention | Recovering After Fire

Topeka Fire Department's Division of Fire Prevention works diligently to prevent fires through ensuring proper fire protection and engineering in building design, educating our citizens about fire safety and prevention, and conducting fire and life safety inspections in commercial facilities on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, we cannot prevent all fires. If you have experienced a fire and are not sure what your first step on the road to recovery might be, if you are wondering whether some of your belongings can be salvaged, if you are wondering who to call for help - the Topeka Fire Department can point you in the right direction.

The following resources listed below can provide fire victims with basic information on how to begin to recover from the devastating effects of a fire in your home or business.
  • American Red Cross 785-234-0568
  • Salvation Army 785-233-9648
  • United Way of Greater Topeka 785-273-4804 or 2-1-1 Social Service Assistant (toll free statewide)
