½ Cent Sales Tax
The ½ cent retailers’ sales tax was approved by Topeka voters and authorized by the City Council for the purpose of paying for maintenance and improvements to existing city streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, alleys and street lighting. The tax was effective October 1, 2009 and expires after ten years. The City will begin to receive revenue from the ½ cent retailers’ sales tax in late December 2009.Here you will find the latest regarding the ½ cent sales tax for infrastructure repairs.
