Why Recycle Oil?
More than 25% of all car owners change their own oil. A substantial amount of that oil is discarded improperly in landfills, dumped into sewers or thrown in the garbage.
Used oil, when disposed of improperly, poses a very serious threat to the environment. Just one gallon of motor oil can pollute one million gallons of water and form an oil slick that is eight acres in size.
Oil slicks not only degrade water quality, they also adversely affect all wildlife that depend upon the fresh water supply. Once contaminated with oil, adverse ecological effects can persist for over 20 years.
You can help keep local streams clean by properly disposing of your used motor oil at one of the sites listed below.
Used Motor Oil Collection Rules
- Drop off used oil only during regular business hours. Please do not leave oil when the facility is not open.
- Once you have deposited the used oil in the collection tank, please return the lid to it's closed position.
- Do not litter the area. Take your empty containers with you.
