Public Works | Parking Section | Parking For The Disabled
The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that a percentage of the total parking spaces in any parking garage or lot be ADA accessible spaces. If you have questions regarding accessibility, contact us at 368-3761, or email email@example.com.
The City of Topeka provides 53 on-street ADA accessible parking spaces, in our downtown metered and unmetered parking spaces, and 54 off-street ADA accessible parking spaces divided appropriately between our parking garages and lots, which exceeds the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
|Parking meter hoods are available, for a monthly fee, for drivers with a severe mobility impairment. This does not apply to all drivers with a disabled parking permit and each case is evaluated individually. Contact the Parking office at 368-3931, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.|
If you own a parking lot and want to install accessible parking spaces, you may need a permit from the Development Services office. Contact us at 368-3704, or email us at email@example.com for more information. The spaces also need to meet City design standards and your design may need to be reviewed by the City Engineering Division. Contact us at 368-3020, or email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The City does not issue disabled parking permits, these are issued by the Shawnee County Motor Vehicle Department. You can contact them at 233-8200, extension 5161.
