My name is
Anthony Darr; I’m a member of the Topeka Police Department serving the Oakland community as your Community Officer. I’ve been with the Department since October 1998 and served as Oakland Community Officer since March 2000.
I feel the ability of the Police Department to work with citizens is the key to improving the quality of life in Topeka and to reducing crime. The Police Department needs the support of the community and the information supplied by the community in order to attack crime. By utilizing information gained from citizens and coordinating that with information from other agencies (such as those handling zoning and nuisance issues) we can eliminate crime and provide a safe and secure environment in which to raise our families.
These values are what attracted me to the position I currently hold. By educating the public and teaming with other agencies, problems can and will be addressed and eradicated from our neighborhoods. This philosophy has been adopted by the Department and is beginning to be utilized by all divisions and members of the Police Department. Continued support and movement in this direction will lead to a better quality of life for the citizens of Topeka - the ultimate goal for all who reside in our city.
