Kids and horses are the perfect team! Have you ever wanted to learn more about horses? Now is your chance. Sign up for this intensive 5-day program that will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about horses and their care. Each day, the program starts with stable management and horse care, and continues through actual riding.

The program will cover the following topics: Safety, tacking up, grooming, etiquette, medical tips, riding instruction, and daily horse maintenance to include mucking stalls. Special guests (local veterinarians, professional horse trainers) will be invited to share their special skills. Riders need to wear long pants (preferably jeans) and hardsoled
shoes with heels (preferably boots)! Riding helmets will be provided and must be worn when riding. Riders will go swimming daily. In the event of inclement weather during the afternoon, a visit to area stables and demonstrations from local trainers will be provided. Transportation provided by Topeka Police Athletics van.

Campers will need to bring daily: Swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, lunch and a drink
(refrigeration is not available). Nutritional snacks, beverages, and any admission fees are included in the fee. Transportation will be provided from Crestview Shelter House, 4901 SW Shunga Drive to the Topeka Roundup Club, 7843 SW 37th Street. Campers may be brought to the shelter after 7:1 5am and picked up by 5:30pm. Enrollment is limited and minimum enrollment must be met.

Campers can be dropped off at the stable no earlier than Sam. Please contact Betty at 785-368-3793 or bkirchner@topeka.org for more information.
