Mayor of Topeka | Civil Service Commission

In accordance with City Code 2.125.030, five commissioners are appointed by the mayor to four-year terms.  One non-voting member designated by the City Manager to be the city representative who shall serve as technical advisor to the commission.  The commission shall conduct examinations of Police and Fire applicants and certify lists of eligible applicants.  The Commission also hears charges against individual officers alleging misconduct, failure to perform duties, offenses of a criminal nature or violations of the Rules and Regulations of the Police and Fire Departments.

Term limits:  None.  No provisions for removal
Meets:  Quarterly, or on an as needed basis
