The mission of the Human Relations Commission is to ensure fair and equal rights for all citizens of Topeka in the areas of employment, housing, and public accommodation.
Our purpose is to enforce the Code of the City of Topeka by investigating complaints and by conducting educational programs to eliminate all forms of discrimination based on race, sex, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, ancestry or disability.
HRC staff understands the stress, discomfort, and awkwardness involved in filing employment, housing, and public accommodating complaints, and/or access issues on behalf of the physically limited.
Our experienced staff is available to listen to your questions, concerns, issues, and will provide you with the direction most appropriate for your circumstance.
The HRC staff is also committed to taking proactive measures in combating naiveté and misinformation regarding Civil Rights, and ADA issues. Accordingly, staff is available to make presentations to your school, club, civic organization, or professional staff. We are pleased to provide the Topeka community with this educational opportunity and invite all to take advantage of our consulting services. We would like to emphasize that the Human Relations Commission is a shelter where one can find qualified, confidential and experienced professionals willing and able to serve you.
