Trade Characteristics
Topeka is the center of a major trade territory in northeast Kansas. One measure of the relative strength of the Topeka marketplace is it’s “Trade Pull Factor”, the relative strength of the local marketplace in “pulling in trade” from outside the local county. “Trade Area Capture” is the adjusted “population” of Topeka/Shawnee County in terms of the strength of retail sales in the local marketplace, or an estimate of the size of the local marketplace. About 200,000 people utilize Topeka as their primary shopping hub.
* Rank among Kansas' 105 Counties (Rank 1 = Highest, Rank 105 = Lowest)
