TOPEKA, Kan. – Join us for two town hall meetings to discuss the future of the Countywide Half-Cent Sales Tax. The public is welcome to both meetings. The first is set for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., April 17th at the Avondale East NET Center, 455 SE Golf Park Blvd. The second is set for 7 to 8 p.m., April 21st, at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, Marvin Auditorium, Room 101C, 1515 SW 10th Ave.
This forum will be led by Mayor Larry Wolgast and Topeka City Councilmembers. They want to hear your thoughts on the future of the Countywide Half-Cent Sales Tax. City Staff will be on hand to answer questions. Shawnee County voters approved the current tax, that took effect in 2005. The tax is set to expire at the end of 2016.
The City previously hosted a town hall meeting on this topic on November 4, 2013. Video from that meeting is posted here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9khK4lj7IYk&app=desktop
