New Budget Manager Adds To Topeka’s TeamTOPEKA, Kan. – City Manager Jim Colson announced the addition of the City’s new Budget Manager, Nicole (Nickie) Lee, on Tuesday. Lee will be responsible for managing the annual budget adoption process and the City’s Capital Improvement Plan, and will help keep the City on track with the current budget throughout the year.
“Nickie has the technical skills and the right attitude to take our City budget to the next level,” Colson said. “We have worked diligently to identify ways to contain costs and enhance revenues while remaining focused on meeting the reasonable expectations of our residents. Our work has included strategically reducing expenditures and refinancing debt to manage the city’s fund balance and regain the confidence of rating agencies. This task is a long way from over, and with Nickie as a member of the team, we will continue to make significant progress.”
Lee most recently worked as Budget Analyst for the City of Olathe, where she oversaw the completion of the city’s annual Capital Improvement Plan, and annual adopted budget books. Lee has also worked for the City of Independence, Missouri, the City of Basehor, Kansas, the Kansas Energy Office and the University of Kansas School of Engineering. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Rockhurst University, and her Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas.
Lee is married with one daughter. In her spare time (what spare time?) she’s an avid runner, Jayhawk fan, and enjoys visiting her family in Nebraska.
