Topeka Worth Saving Top 10 Most Endangered Properties List
In January 2014, the Topeka Landmarks Commission launched the Topeka Worth Saving top 10 most endangered historic properties list to give Topeka and area residents the opportunity to bring critical attention to threatened historic properties in our Capital City. Modeled after the National Trust for Historic Preservation's list of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places, and the Kansas Preservation Alliance’s biannual Endangered Historic Places list, Topeka Worth Saving strives to highlight important historic resources that would otherwise be lost if action is not taken to save them.
Nominations are now being accepted. Nomination forms can be found here, and are due (for placement on the inaugural list) by May 1, 2015. Nominations can be submitted to the Topeka Landmarks Commission at any time of the year. All nominations will be considered by the Commission then presented to the Topeka City Council in May, to coincide with National Historic Preservation Month.
The endangered historic properties list is a function of the Topeka Landmarks Commission. For more information about the committee, click here.
