About Mayor Larry Wolfgast
Larry Wolgast was elected Mayor of Topeka in April, 2013, having previously served on the Topeka City Council, and as Deputy Mayor. He is a Kansas native who grew up in Wabaunsee County. He has an undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and a master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Kansas. He was the administrative assistant to Congressman Bill Roy and a cabinet secretary in the administration of Governor John Carlin. Larry served in administrative positions at United Way of Topeka, K-NEA, and as teacher and administrator in the Topeka Public Schools.
Larry retired as Vice President of Development, Menninger Foundation, but continued as a consultant with non-profits, and he is active in community service.
Larry has served on boards at the local, state and national level, and he has chaired the following boards; YMCA of Topeka; Topeka Shawnee County Landmarks Commission; Topeka Symphony and the Topeka Performing Arts Center.

Larry is married to Anita Wolgast, who is currently the co-chair of NOTO. They have two grown sons and five grandchildren. He enjoys climbing Colorado Mountains and has run in and completed 3 marathons.
